PSL FOR KAMUIS: A Surprise Party

[ Getting Yuri to allow himself to be acknowledged or celebrated in any way possible had always been a trial. No matter how much Flynn had insisted, and argued and yelled, Yuri had an infuriatingly good way of distracting Flynn from the main point and getting away without his much deserved accolades.

But even Yuri couldn't argue against a birthday party, designed specifically to bring everyone back together. That was what they all had decided.

When they were young, scrimmaging around the slums of the lower quarter, birthdays had always been small affairs. Little treats from their landlady, letting the birthday boy choose the game of the day without argument, sneaking their way into the citizen's quarter to admire some toys and shiny baubles that had been out of the reach of children like them.

But these days, things could be much bigger.

Yuri's landlady had graciously let Flynn and the others take command of the Comet and with Ted's help and Hanks, it wasn't difficult to get a number of the lower quarter citizens involved. Lady Estellise was easy to find, and was more than delighted to drag in the scattered members of Brave Vesperia as well as summon Rita from the depths of her research for one day to simply enjoy themselves in this new future, because Yuri had helped them all make them believe it could happen.

Yuri wouldn't be too pleased, he knew. But, Yuri could put up with the love everyone wanted to shower him for one night, Flynn thinks.

...still, Flynn isn't sure how he managed to get the role of distracting Yuri. He didn't doubt Patty's or Judy's abilities to cook a truly delicious dinner, but he had wanted to help out with the cake]

[Yuri stands at the entrance of Zaphias. Seems like the common quarter is business as usual, perhaps a little quieter. He turns to Flynn, curious.]

You wanna head back to my place?

[Flynn opens his mouth to agree, then pauses, frowning as he picks at his clothes]

I'm still covered in salt--

Heh, would you like for me to escort you to your room then?

[Yuri didn’t mind, no matter what he got to spend some precious spare time with his best friend.]

[Flynn wrinkles his nose and makes a rude noise--but it would be unfathomably rude to walk all over Yuri's home covered in salt and dirt and he did need to buy some more time]

Alright let’s go!

[He pats Flynn on the back and they make their way to the castle.]

Sure you’re not worried about tracking sand and salt inside the castle?

[The castle has had worst things tracked into it, with the number of soldiers going in and out but Flynn flushes automatically with guilt]

...I'll have to clean up before we leave.

[Yuri shrugs, of course Flynn wanted to be spotless at all times.]

You going in for a shower? Fine fine, I’ll wait in the courtyard.

I wont be too long.

[Unlike Yuri, Flynn didn't have half as much hair to deal with. Still, he's apologetic as he walks hurriedly up to his room, smiling and greeting soldiers as he passes by. He doesn't think it's obvious he went for a long swim but the change to his image is something he's a little conscious about]

[Yuri waits by patiently close by. Personally he can change later, it’s not that big of a deal. Whenever Flynn decides to return, he’s practicing swordplay outside.] You all gussied up now Flynn?

[Flynn watches Yuri for a moment, fingers itching to drag Yuri into another practice match. But then they would actually be late for the party]

Sorry for making you wait. Shall we go then?

[Yuri nods, eager to get going and out of the stuffy castle. He still has suspicions but nowhere to the extent of what Flynn has planned.]

Yeah, lets swing by the Lower Quarter now. The folks will be happy to see you again

[It is extremely difficult to not squirm guiltily but Flynn only looks away a little sheepishly. He's really not the best at lying, but Yuri seems content to let things be]

And I'm always happy to see them. Let's go.

[Yuri is onto him, but doesn’t pursue further. He’ll let Flynn have his little surprise for him. And soon enough they arrive at their destination, his small apartment.]

Hmm? Is there someone in there?

Was Repede waiting for us here all this time?

[Honestly, Yuri. Flynn's eyes flicker a little but he doesn't let on any more than that]

Hey now, Repede is more patient than that.

[Yuri pointed out, opening the door up. What he finds inside his small room is crammed full of people he knows, all shouting happy birthday at him. Yuri turns to look at Flynn, looking a little flustered for once in his life.]

You got me good.

[Flynn laughs, grinning at Ted who runs up to give Yuri a hug]

Hm? Is it so surprising people wanted to celebrate your birthday?

[Yuri gives Ted a few pats on the head, telling him he’ll be coming in shortly.]

You know I’m not usually one for celebration. Only you can wrangle up this many people.

[He chuckles, placing his hand on Flynn’s shoulder.]

[Flynn smiles at Yuri warmly. ]

Did you really think everyone was just going to let your birthday pass by?

Well, it’s not that big of a deal.

[His eyes widen when he sees the cake being wheeled towards him, he loved sweets but wasn’t this a little too much?]

Oi, do you plan on feeding the whole town with that cake?

Everyone does want to celebrate your birthday with you.

[Enjoy everyone being a sap, Yuri. Flynn's influence wasn't necessary at all here]

[Yuri softy smiles, finally starting to enjoy himself. His other friends start to tug him away, letting him have the first slice of cake. But before that.]

Hey Flynn, let’s have a talk after this.

[Flynn looks at Yuri in muted surprise before his expression softens and he smiles]

Of course.

[Well, he's hogged Yuri for most of the day. Time to step back and focus on cleaning up after everyone else while everyone had fun]

[Many hours passed by, with Yuri enjoying his surprise party with all of his friends gathered around him to celebrate. But the day was drawing to a close and everyone but Flynn eventually bid adieu to the twenty two year old. They cleaned up what was leftover from the party and soon with that out of the way, Yuri flopped on the bed. Flynn was probably still cleaning with how much of a neatfreak he was.]

Whew! I’m beat, what about you Flynn?

[Flynn is indeed cleaning up Yuri's room cheerfully, wiping down some frosting that had somehow made it on the wall. How? Flynn didn't recall there being a food fight. Oh well. Cleaning has always been something he enjoyed though]

I could keep going for a little longer.

[Well his room was small. They basically took up the entire hallway too in order to fit everyone. Makes him wonder how they could stand being crammed in there for a while.

But that was over now. He smiled, bending over to where Flynn was cleaning the walls and reached over to cup his best friends chin. Then he leaned forward to kiss him.]
